Bottoms Up! A Review Series of Terry Chamois Shorts & Bottoms

I care more about my biking bottoms than I do about any other piece of gear (except for my bikes and helmet). The cutest jersey in the world can’t save you if your crotch hurts and you’re two hours from home on a trail or road with no cell service. I want to pull on my chamois and then forget that I’m wearing it so that I can focus on other things, like the happiness of riding in a redwood forest, or hitting power numbers on a workout, or sending a tight switchback, or racing.

“Bottoms Up” is a new series of posts that describe and review Terry performance and commuting biking bottoms that I have tried and recommend if you’re looking for comfort and function, also with a side of style. As a female with a very sensitive undercarriage who loves to ride bikes (trail, gravel, and road), I want to offer sincere reviews and details about chamois shorts and other bottoms I confidently recommend. Honestly, Terry’s biking chamois shorts changed my life and gave me the confidence and comfort to ride as far and as hard as I want to when I wasn’t sure if I could be a committed cyclist given my body. I have been riding almost exclusively in Terry bottoms since 2015, and when I have tried other brands, I have had some regrets. Without further ado: #bottomsup will include personal reviews based on my experience with Terry shorts.

Performance Bottoms: these are primarily padded shorts I would train in or use for longer rides (2-8 hours).

Commuter Bottoms: these are bottoms that may or may not have padding that are for shorter rides to work or to locations within 5 road miles.

Chamois Shorts with Pockets: these chamois shorts are featured in the TPSP, or the Terry Pocket Shorts Project series. (series homepage)

Full disclosure that I am a Terry affiliate. I have probably spent thousands of dollars on their shorts over the years and will continue to buy them.

I am wearing a Terry chamois in all of these photos: riding road and gravel in Death Valley, under baggies in Fort Ord, and in an XC race
